THE DOCTOR

THE DOCTOR

Welcome, Doctor! You have been chosen for the role of a HEALER - a protective role. You will be tasked with protecting one set of masks during the week. Your protection allows for them to live to see another day. Anyone who attempts to kill a person wearing the chosen mask will be thwarted.

A list of rules are as follow:
1. The Doctor is tasked with picking one set of masks to protect that week from slaughter.
2. The Doctor can choose their own mask, however they will not be eligible for protection.
3. The Doctor will not find out if someone was protected that night until trial.
4. For their participation, The Doctor will receive one personalized incentive at end of game.

New top levels will be created in this post for each week the Doctor is alive. The White Rabbit will meet with the Doctor on Monday Evenings at 6PM. Please have your selection by Monday night. We hope you have fun with your role!

[Sleep never came easily for Ardyn, anyway, not for centuries upon centuries. It's a foreign sensation for him to wake up like this, to be pulled from slumber. To feel the lingering of something that feels like drowsiness. It fades quickly, however, as if an old habit is forcing out any sensation of newness. And so Ardyn awakens to where he hears melody, a place where the scent of flowers catches in his nose.

He glances around, brows furrowed, only to be met with the sight of the White Rabbit sitting upon an oversized mushroom. Pink puffs of smoke snake his way, and he waves them aside.]

I'm quite used to discomfort, my furry friend.

[He's going to stand, unwilling to have this conversation while sitting in the grass.]

We never did exchange introductions, did we? How rude of me. [A hand splayed against his chest.] Ardyn Izunia, at your service. I assume there's a reason I'm here?

[A click of his tongue, a sharpened grin. Ardyn still looks amused, though there is something quite focused in his look now.]

Would you prefer to know me as Ardyn Lucis Caelum? That name rots on my tongue, and settles unwell in my mind. It makes me very unhappy.

[ 8) ]

Just call me Ardyn, if you must. [That sounds awfully like a command, even if he's not the one in charge here.] But to be a Guest of Honor... I'm flattered. One of four, am I correct?

[That's better.]

So we are to provide entertainment for her? In what way?

[He gestures as he speaks, as is a habit of his.]

And might I know who the other honored guests are?

[That isn't surprising to him, that he shouldn't know the identities of the others. This all had the markings of game, this "celebration". One that was apparently becoming deadlier and deadlier as the moments passed.

He takes the card, wordlessly. He freezes when he sees the picture on the front, however, his own person adorned with plague doctor's mask. The potions at his feet all too familiar, the ones used for the sake of healing on Eos, utilizing the Lucis Caelum magic to do so.

He then flips it over, and reads the rules.]

Ha.

[His eyes are lifted to the White Rabbit, and they're awfully cold.]

Do you find this funny? That I should be the one delegated to be the healer?

[are you trying to trigger the shit out of him]

[He stands unmoving, a pillar of stone against the White Rabbit's nervous twitching. It's hard to tell if he's angry or otherwise displeased -- Ardyn makes it difficult to tell just how deep any of his embitterment runs.]

To save them you mean. From "slaughter". From a death very unbecoming. Not any different than what I was once tasked to do, thousands of years ago.

And do know how well that ended for me?

[A bitter laugh. A bit like the one he had indulged himself in when he cut his hand the day prior.]

What sort of reward? It has to be of the highest caliber for me to even consider this.

[The plant's scream means little to him, he barely even registers it. He's still again, until he concedes just enough to bend down so that his hand can be tended to. It feels cool, soothing, on his wound.

Again, he barely notices. He's thinking of what is being offered to him -- his wish of revenge fulfilled, his own body cleansed thereafter. Could he have both? Could he enjoy, so briefly, the weightlessness of not carrying the Starscourge around for a fleeting moment, before delegating himself to his own death permanently?

Revenge and rest did not have to be connected to each other any longer, with a promise like that. How interesting. How... defiantly tearing away from the destiny he has been so keen on adhering to.]

To purify me would be a task... very large indeed. If you can manage it...

[Well. Why not. An even bigger middle finger to the gods, why would he say no to it?]

Then I'll agree. To choose a set of masks, correct? Playing the part of healer once more, I thought I'd die before I saw the day again.

[Details that he holds onto. Alice, wishing to live ordinarily. The Queen, rather small.

Ardyn sets his jaw. He considers this.]

At risk? Protection goes against what others might wish for, hm?

[It's more rhetorical than anything. A small amount of insight concerning what the other honored guests might desire.

He flexes his hand, still slick with aloe.]
I don't fear harm, nor death. And I choose my own mask regardless.

[Ardyn awakens for a second time in the Green House. He's not quite sure he appreciates that tap, tap, tapping of the White Rabbit's foot, which is easily seen in his look as he sits up.]

Patience, my rabbit friend. Your anxieties will be the death of you someday.

[It won't take long before he's standing to his full height, looking down at the rabbit.]

Even the Queen can afford to wait a minute or two.

It takes more than a beheading or two to set my mind astray.

[What does that say about him? That maybe he already is a little past the point of no return himself, if that kind of violence didn't garner the same reaction from him as it did most everyone else.

Such is the life of an FF villain.

Anyway:]

I assume I'm here for the same reason as before? I have a question first, however. About the crows that decided to flock into "town"; were they a result of my previous choice?
niflheim: (02)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-16 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The last? So we're almost done with all of this unbirthday celebration business?

[He scoffs. He wonders just what else is in store for them.]

As for the crows... yes, no one seems the wiser, and yet what suspicions some people were keen on throwing our way. What irony. [His lips curl into a smile.] Perhaps I should return the favor.
niflheim: (62)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-16 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Then let them overtake the Abode. It'll be a change of pace, from bird to mammal. Foxes, then. I bet that'll make you even more nervous, hm?

[You know, 'cause foxes eat rabbits.

Does Ardyn choose this set of masks based upon any sort of strategy? Any want to actually protect people? No. He just wants to be petty, to throw it back into Prompto's face that -- hey, guess what? If he's going to suspect crows, now it's time to suspect the foxes, too.]

What happens when the Queen grows bored?
niflheim: (11)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-16 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pettiness does indeed know no bounds, especially if Ardyn does not care much for either his own death, or that of anyone else. Not truly. And with what the White Rabbit is telling him now, it appears he has even less of a reason to care.

All that mattered was participation, then? His eyebrows lift slightly, accordingly.]

What do you mean they're not dead? [They seemed pretty dead to him. Was this some sort of magic at work?] Where are they, and what battles do they fight?
niflheim: (08)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-16 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
And those who are in this other realm? Are they sent home as well, when all is said and done?
niflheim: (31)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-17 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
But the opportunity exists nonetheless. Ha!

[Oh yes, he seems very amused by this new information.]

And everyone is so afraid of death. What a farce, when the truth is that being here is nothing short of a blessing.
niflheim: (16)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-20 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a strange twist on the word "mercy", but I think I may begin to see why you say it.

[He looks amused, as always.]

It's hard to take what you say at face value, you realize. Sometimes I feel as if you are being forced to sing the Queen's praises.
niflheim: (59)

[personal profile] niflheim 2017-10-20 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[He laughs.]

It's all right, you can be honest. It's just the two of us here.
