THE FOOL
Welcome, Fool! You have been chosen for the role of a JESTER - a third party role. You have been given a hopefully doomed fate, one that offers much promise for your success. During trials, you are tasked with providing the best show for the Queen of Hearts. Your goal is to be wrongfully executed.
A list of rules are as follow:
2. The Fool will have the backing of the White Rabbit during trial, which will make things more believable.
3. The Fool's vote will always be towards themselves without penalty.
4. For a successful trial, the Fool will immediately exit the game. They will return home with one personalized incentive.
5. However, if they survive the game, they will be penalized greatly.
New top levels will be created in this post for each week the Fool is alive. The White Rabbit will meet with the Fool on Thursday Evenings at 6PM for nice chats. We hope you have fun with your role!
+ MURDER PROPOSALS + IC RULEBOOK + HOUSING
week 1
What a terrible fate you find upon yourself. Or is it an unterrible fate? Hm.. hm.. Perspective, my, oh perspective is important.
[ He rambles. ]
You are wondering why you're here, yes?
no subject
[He's dreaming, right? Okay, no, he's pretty sure he isn't, but he subtly pinches his palm underneath the table just to be safe.]
Yes.
[He glances around him, feeling a growing concern churn his insides.]
Am I the only one here?
no subject
[ Before Ivan can react, the Rabbit slides an oversized card across the table. The front of the card depicts Ivan in a heroic pose, confident and comfortable — behind him Hammett which has been rescued. He's surrounded by friends who hoist him on their shoulders, praising him for his bravery.
On the back, he'll find his set of rules for THE FOOL. ]
no subject
What is this?
[It's an attractive image, but it...it isn't real. Him, a hero? His friends are the ones who are heroes. But still, he takes some time to read the back before he says anything else.]
I'm sorry, I don't think I understand. The Queen, she wants me to die?
no subject
[ But, as grim as it is — ]
However, she i-i-is kind. She will reward you with unbirthday wishes and an incentive of your c-c-choice if you successfully perform at the trial for her. Like a piece on a board in the midst of a battle, it--it is you that will have moves.
after like two hours of redirect errors.....
Alright...then I suppose I should do my best. I wouldn't want to bore a queen.
[And more than that, it sounds like if he can do this, he'll get what he wants. And he won't have to hurt anyone. Being sacrificed sounds less daunting to him than sacrificing others. Still...]
I just worry how I could possibly pull off something like this. I'm not exactly...that is, I mean, I don't come off as...
[He's small and people keep patting his head. It's a problem.]
theyre the worst.
[ The boy accepted his face so quickly and it causes his whiskers to twitch. ]
You're the quickest one to accept your place, is there a r-reason why..?
[ But, he nods. ]
I will be here to assist you. Allow you to practice your g-guilt and lies.
no subject
[How embarrassing! He stiffens, feeling awkward. He really is totally abnormal, isn't he?]
I guess it's just...I've always figured that it's better for me to take the pain and the burden off of others! I'm not good at fighting, and I'm not the most brave, so it's the best thing that I can do!
[There's also his generally low opinion of himself and lack of any kind of knowledge about his family or his past, but...!]
I don't want to be executed...in fact, I'm really scared of that, but...in the end, I think this is a well-suited role for me to play.
[Ivan takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself back down. To feel like this is all some surreal sort of experience that he can separate himself from. Maybe that'll make it a bit easier to stomach. It's frightening enough to think that he needs to work his way toward his own death, but it won't become real until he makes everyone else believes he deserves it.]
Thank you. I'm not very good at lying.
no subject
[ He sounds sympathetic, at least... ]
You must be successful! The c-c-clock is ticking. ALWAYS ticking! Ticking for us all! T-Think: how can you become suspicious? H-how can you look like you do not belong? Half truths are better than all truths.
no subject
One of the rules is that we're not supposed to go outside after curfew, and if you do on Thursdays you become a suspect, isn't it? That would at least put my name up there.
[How to look like he doesn't belong...]
It could be suspicious if I started trying to get into the other houses I don't belong to?
no subject
no subject
Yeah, that could work! That sounds great! Maybe leave some kind of, uh, threatening message?
[He hesitates.]
Or is that going too far?
[Ivan people are going to die.]
no subject
Which h-h-house and which message? We can arrange this, no worries. The arrangement will be made!
no subject
[But what message...Ivan crosses his arms and thinks. Something that fits with the theme, maybe? Something...poetic...?]
Hold onto your head
Hold onto your head
If you wait too long to catch me--
I'll paint the roses red.
[Ivan blushes in a mixture of embarrassment and shame. That was really bad, wasn't it? He really is sorry in advance, House of Spades...]
WEEK 2
Wake up... it's almost time to l-l-leave..!
no subject
[Ivan wakes up with a start as the words hit him. Before this is over he's going to be as jumpy as the White Rabbit himself, always checking the time.]
Do you need any help with that?
[Wait, what is he saying?]
Where...um, how should we start this time? I want to do a good job--better than last week!
no subject
Oh, but you did well to carry a show! Haha, the stone was such trouble! [ FUNNY AS FUCK HONESTLY. ] There are suspicions of whom our Mad Hatter is. Perhaps im-imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? We must connect the dots between you two.
no subject
I didn't mean to turn the suspicion on someone who was innocent other than myself...especially considering what he did in retaliation for those votes.
[Poor Max.]
But you're right. That's a good idea. Give me a moment to think of a good way to accomplish that. I have...a couple other ideas, as well.
no subject
[ The Rabbit simply watches, anxiously twitching his ear. ]
What ideas can I support y-y-you with?
no subject
I was thinking about what they said about...thinking that someone had broken in, but nobody had any identifiable injuries from the glass. They just misinterpreted the intention of the note of course, but I figure...aside from simply being features on the suspect list once again, maybe if I, ah, hurt myself...
[Just the idea makes him feel a bit ill.]
Make it look like someone fought against me. Like maybe...maybe they were trying to defend themselves from an attack.
no subject
If you require assistance... [ He looks at the scissors grimly. ] I can provide such a thing previous to the ball.
no subject
Thank you. It would probably look more natural, too, coming from someone else. I'd probably mess it up on my own. But still, if it makes you uncomfortable, I don't want to trouble you! You've been so helpful and I'd hate to abuse that.
[He pauses again as he thinks more about it.]
Do you think just on my arms under the sleeves should be enough? I was thinking under my collar, maybe, as well. Maybe bruises there to compliment any other kinds of physical injuries...
no subject
no subject
[Perfectly terrible but perfect all the same. He's glad he has at least some kind of ally in all this. If Ivan were flying blind, he's sure he wouldn't get nearly as far.]
So, other than that...imitating the Mad Hatter...
[He closes his eyes as he thinks.]
I could try and link my first note to the Hatter's note, make it sound more like that one. Imply that he wrote both of them and both of them came from me, somehow. I'm a little worried that it'll ultimately get pinned on someone else again, though...but I'm sure there has to be a way to narrow down the suspects.
[He shakes his head.]
Sorry, I think I'm forcing the issue too hard. Maybe it's enough to just add false information that will get people to ask questions.
no subject
[ He hums to himself. ]
What trait is the Hatter known for? His M-M-Madness... How is your acting skills, young chap? Is there a bone in your body that allows a grand dramatic force to be birthed? Perhaps if the suspicion lies on you, you're able to feign desperation — actively get riled up when accused.
no subject
Acting? Oh, um...I'm...
[He really doesn't look or feel like a very confident actor, but...in desperation? It could work.]
I think I might be able to pull that off! I can get agitated and snap when people question me, give vague answers and act as if...as if I don't understand how anyone could suspect me.
[Really how hard could that one be?]
And maybe I can even contradict myself! Claim that I got my injuries one way and then mix up my story later!
no subject
[ He clears his throat. ]
Ivan, your wounds... You said earlier they were from breaking into the Timeshare... but the gate doesn't seem to have prongs that sharp... H-H-How do you explain that?
no subject
So he frowns, his eyes narrowing, and does his best to look indignant. It's a bit of a stiff performance, but this is just his first shot, so maybe he'll get better.]
Is that what I said? Well, I misspoke. It was...I got the bruise from falling while I was trying to break in, you see, and the scratches...I got those from one of the foxes that was protective of its child. There's no way you can say those claws aren't sharp enough to make such a wound!
no subject
[ Spoiler: the Rabbit is bad at acting. ]
no subject
[His mouth twitches up in a smile, because this is kind of funny. But he realizes that it shouldn't be, so he tries to roll with it and smiles wider, hoping that this is some sort of madness gaze.]
Twisting my words so much, are you trying to accuse me of something? Me?
